Why does a Nutrichef healthy meal plan work?
The most common questions that I'm asked about the Nutrichef meal plans are: what's the secret...why do they work...how do they work?
Often my reply is about the meals themselves, the ingredients, the fact that its real food served in real sized portions. Then there's our core principles...what we call our Perfect Ten.
However earlier this week I was asked again and came up with some ideas which are less specifically about the food and more about an ethos and your state of mind. See what you think...
- We avoid using the word 'diet' when we're talking about weight loss and reaching your healthy weight. Unfortunately the word has lost its meaning in terms of reference strictly to the foods eaten and has become synonymous with weight-loss and something you have to do for a period of time. What we want to do is help you to change your habits and transform the way you view what you eat - not 'go on a diet'.
- We don't get hung up on calories counting. Calorie intake varies so much from individual to individual that on its own it is not a good measure of what and how much you should eat. It's important that you feel comfortably full when you eat and avoid the sugar rollercoaster, avoiding feelings of hunger (or thirst).
- Our meal plans are designed to stop you feeling hungry. Often when you make a change to your eating habits there will be a period of transition where you may experience hunger as your body adapts. However the ingredients that we use ensure that you have slowly delivered sustained energy.
- We don't do fads. Nutrichef delicious healthy meal plans are based on old world foods as close to their natural state as possible. Fresh meat, fish, eggs, nuts, seeds and plenty of green vegetables.
- We advise everyone to cut out sugary drinks, cut down on caffeine and alcohol and load up on water, herb, green and fruit teas. The biggest successes with our meal plans come from those that follow this advice, as not only are you cutting out sugary carbs but there is evidence that a well-hydrated body processes glucose more effectively allowing your metabolism to stay efficient.
- We also advise everyone to keep measurements - don't only focus on weight, but take measurements around your neck, waist, tummy and hips. Particularly if you exercise whilst eating our healthy meals you may not always see weight loss but see body shape change. Use a diary to record and measure how you look and feel, as well as your food and drink intake.
