Nutrichef sponsors Arctic Marathon Runner

Nutrichef is proud to be sponsoring James Girling on his extraordinary North Pole Marathon in April 2012.
On 7th April 2012 James will attempt to overcome extreme sub-zero temperatures to run 26.2 miles in one of the remotest parts of the planet. How cool is that, if you’ll pardon the pun!

“The marathon is not run on land – I will be ‘running on water’, the frozen water of the Arctic ice floes, with 6 to 12 feet separating me from 12,000 feet of Arctic Ocean. In fact, the whole course will be moving underfoot while I’m running, as the ice drifts with the ocean current!”

James has no athletic background so he really is starting  from scratch. “I’ve always loved taking part in charity events and setting new challenges for myself. I’ve previously done sponsored parachute and bungee jumps, and I’d been thinking of a new way to raise funds for a good cause for the last couple of years. I walk two miles to and from work every day but that is the extent of my exercise. I do have a weights bench, which I bought with the best intentions, but it has ended up becoming more of a clothes storage bench! Barbara’s nutritional advice and Nutrichef’s wonderfully nutritious and delicious meals, including healthy flapjacks are helping fuel my training sessions. I plan to take the healthy flapjacks out to the North Pole for the marathon to give some well needed energy.”

We wish James the best of luck and please check out his website.
