Priory School Wins Budding Chef Contest

Healthy fast food – the budding chefs in the Audi A4 Cabriolet they won for a day!

Pupils at The Priory School in Christchurch are leading the way in nutritional know-how after they came first in the inaugural ‘Nutrichef/Audi Budding Chef’ competition.

The competition – which was open to primary and middle schools across Dorset – invited children to create recipes that provide ‘five-a-day’, yet don’t contain any sugar or artificial additives. First prize was a one-week Nutrichef meal plan for the family of each winning pupil and the use of a brand new Audi A4 Cabriolet by each family for a whole day.

The recipes were judged by Nutrichef CEO, Barbara Cox, and her team of chefs. The winning entry was from Priory School pupils Rosie, Katie and Stanley, who created a variety of mouth-watering fruit salads.

Barbara said, “I was really impressed with the entry from The Priory School. The recipes included a wide variety of different fruit, therefore providing a range of different vitamins and minerals. We tried the recipes out at Nutrichef, and were so impressed that we’ve added them to our range of healthy breakfasts!”

Poole Audi Managing Director, David Kelly - himself a long-term customer of Nutrichef - added, “We’re delighted to support such a worthwhile project. I’ve been really pleased with the effects that Nutrichef’s healthy meals have had on my own health, so I’m very happy to be involved in an initiative that encourages youngsters in Dorset to think about their own wellbeing.”

Headteacher of The Priory School, Claire King said, “Healthy lifestyles are an integral part of teaching and learning at the Priory School. We are delighted that the children took part in the Nutri-chef competition. They recognise the importance of good diet and exercise. The menus they have designed reflect their knowledge of the nutritional value of food as well as the importance of creativity and design. As a school, we received our Healthy Schools award recently in recognition of our commitment to health and safety.”
