Questions & Answers

In this section, we answer some of the more frequently asked questions that our new customers have. If you have any further questions, just call us on 0845 366 9900 and we’ll be happy to help.

When can I expect my first delivery of meals?
If you choose our Fresh Meal Delivery service (available in Dorset, Hampshire and Surrey), we will be able to make our first delivery to you within three days of receiving your order.

If you choose our nationwide Frozen Meal Delivery service, we will normally be able to deliver to you within seven days. To find out when we will be able to deliver to you, just call us on 0845 366 9900.

What kind of ingredients do you use?
We use a very wide variety of healthy ingredients: fruit and vegetables because they provide us with minerals, vitamins and fibre; beans, tofu and fish because they are good sources of protein; rice and quinoa because they are sources of carbohydrate; sprouted beans and pulses because they are rich in enzymes that aid digestion; plus many others.

In recognition of the need to consume a wide variety of different nutrients (as raw material for all of our biochemical processes) we provide more than 180 different ingredients in a one month meal plan. Of these, there are over 80 different fruit and vegetables and more than ten a day – double the government’s target of ‘5-a-day’!

How will the ingredients differ from those found in my usual daily shop?
We don’t use any ingredients that contain added sugar, salt or artificial additives, nor do we use any wheat products because gluten (the protein in wheat) is hard to digest for many people. We also refrain from using dairy products because they have now been associated with a number of health problems. The majority of the ingredients we use are organic or, in the case of fish, freshly caught in the English Channel.

Are the vegetarian options suitable for vegans?
Yes they are. They do not contain any animal products. Meals for people with special dietary requirements can also be discussed during the initial consultation.

Will I have to cook?
No, but you’ll probably want to heat up your evening meal.
It’s best to do this in a conventional oven, as microwaves are thought to damage the structure of essential nutrients.

What should I drink?
Water - and lots of it! Try to drink 2 litres of water a day, with a slice of lemon if you’d like to add a subtle flavour. Try to drink it between meals – drinking water with a meal dilutes your digestive juices, which are trying their best to break down your food!

What drinks should I avoid?
The problem with most drinks (e.g. fizzy drinks, alcohol, and even fruit juice) is that they contain a lot of sugar. ‘Diet drinks’ might seem like a good idea, but many contain artificial sweeteners (like aspartame) that can be even more harmful than sugar.

What about the odd chocolate bar, packet of crisps, beer or wine?
The ‘odd’ temptation like these won’t undo all your good work, but we do suggest moderation (2 or 3 glasses of red wine a week can be okay). You will, of course, obtain better results from the plan if you exercise restraint!

Why not discover some new favourites? We have a wide range of healthy snacks, which can be delivered along with your meals. To see these, just visit our online shop.

Should I exercise while I’m on a meal plan?
We discuss the topic of exercise with you at your first consultation. The amount of exercise you do is completely up to you (and will, of course, depend on a number of factors, including your general health). We recommend that you do at least 30 minutes of brisk exercise each day. You should, however, seek the advice of a medical practitioner before significantly increasing your level of physical activity.

Will the portion sizes be right for me?
For most customers the portion sizes we provide are just right. However, if you have a sedate lifestyle or think we’re providing too much food, please ask about our low calorie portions. Conversely, if you feel you need more food, you can buy additional portions of the meals or healthy snacks from us.

What happens when I reach the end of my meal plan?
You can have a further consultation where we can review with you any change in your measurements, the benefits you have experienced, your thoughts on the meals and the overall service. Then you can leave it at that, continue with an extended meal plan, choose a Monday-to-Friday plan or take a break and do it again later!

When will you deliver?
On our Fresh Meal Delivery service we deliver four evenings per week: Monday (Tuesday’s meals), Tuesday (Wednesday and Thursday’s meals), Thursday (Friday and Saturday’s meals) and Saturday (Sunday and Monday’s meals). As for the time of delivery, we make 99% of deliveries between 5pm and 9:30pm.

Customers on our Frozen Meal Delivery service receive their meals before lunchtime on Saturday. We will normally be able to give you a two-hour delivery ‘window’. In some areas we may be able to arrange a delivery on Friday evening.

What if I’m out when you try to deliver my meals?
We strongly advise that customers on our Frozen Meal Delivery service remain at home to receive their delivery so that they can put their meals straight into their fridge or freezer (as directed by the labelling on each meal).

For customers on our Fresh Meal Delivery service (available in Dorset, Hampshire and Surrey) being at home to receive the delivery is less of an issue as the meals are delivered chilled in an insulated cool bag with an ice pack. At the time of booking your meal plan we will ask you where you would like your cool bag to be placed in case you are ever out when we deliver to you.

What can I do if my holiday falls within my meal plan schedule?
You can start your plan at a time that suits you best. It is possible to put your meal plan on hold while you are away.
