Weight loss the healthy way:  

How Sharon lost 2 stone in 2 ½ months...

Sharon May, weight lossI want to be able to run up the stairs and run back down again; like I used to, prior to having children”.  Mum of two and a dress size 18, Sharon longs for the energy that she admits once taking for granted; “I want to be a good role model to my children and start 2012 the way I want to continue”.  

For many of us, a new year is a chance to start afresh and an opportunity to rethink our lifestyle.  There are a vast amount of diets out there, but there is mounting evidence to show that simply eating nutritious foods and introducing basic exercises can enable real and lasting change.  Sound too good to be true?  That is because we have become accustomed to hearing about the latest ‘new wonder cure’ and ‘miracle diets’.  Yet there is a plethora of research to show that a diet similar to that of our ancestors, packed full of fresh fruit and vegetables, nuts and seeds, can revitalise the human body and help prevent illnesses such as cancer, heart disease and Type 2 diabetes.  

When Sharon came to Nutrichef in November 2011, she was clear about what she wanted, “I want that get up and go and I want to be a size 12 again”.  She was honest about her busy schedule and lack of time for an ambitious exercise regime-a lifestyle that many of us can identify with.

The healthy meal plan 

Over a period of two months, Sharon worked closely with Nutrichef, followed the popular 'Lighter and Brighter' meal plan and received ongoing support from the team.  No shakes, no pouches, just three nourishing meals a day delivered to her door.  

Real food, real change, real results

Sharon was determined to make lasting change and so to begin with, like many people, she felt some hunger and headaches, whilst her body got used to cutting out some things and adding in new ones .   However, Sharon found that changing her lifestyle allowed for longer-lasting benefits compared to a ‘quick fix’.  She was introduced to new foods which maintained her interest; “the variety of meal plans is fantastic; the ingredients are sourced fresh every day and I ate things that I wouldn’t normally consider eating”.  After 75 days on the plan, Sharon successfully lost 2 stone.

Life today is transformed 

Sharon May diet planToday, Sharon is a lot happier than she used to be and has a confidence boost which she plans to apply to other aspects of her life.  “My skin has cleared up, my digestive system is so much better, and I have never had so much energy.  Now I go from first thing in the morning until last thing at night and I am raring to go; my children have got a new mum.  I am so much more confident; I am going back to my running and spinning classes”.

Healthy on the inside and healthy on the outside 

There is nothing ‘miraculous’ about Sharon’s meal plan.  The secret lies in eating the right foods which not only make you look fabulous on the outside, but you are healthy on the inside too.  Nutrichef’s meals are designed by nutritionist Barbara Cox, who is inspired by the Japanese diet which is considered one of the healthiest in the world.  “The key to our successful meal plans is variety.  In the UK, we eat around 30 different foods a week; the Japanese eat over 100.  Many diets fail because people become bored and miss their indulgencies whereas at Nutrichef, people talk about the new foods they have discovered, rather than what they are not eating”.  

It seems as if we are forever being told ‘don’t eat this and don’t eat that’, but a healthy meal plan does not have to be a confused tangle of ‘do’s and don’ts’.   It’s simply a question of paying a bit more attention to the foods we eat and whether or not it is really good food.  Just ask Sharon!
